ABOUT GCSF
GCSF MISSION STATEMENT
Global Community Service Foundation works
to reduce poverty in Southeast Asia by implementing
sustainable community based projects and promoting cooperation
among governmental and other resources providers.
WHAT IS GCSF?
Global Community Service Foundation (GCSF) is a 501
(c) (3) public charitable organization. In 1994, after
witnessing the extreme deprivation and hardships in
Southeast Asia, Marcia Selva, concerned friends and
fellow travelers created a non-profit organization,
focused on Viet Nam. Today, the Foundation that grew
out of that effort has expanded to include an active
board of directors, management team and voluntourists
whose dedicated work ensures the success of the GCSF
mission.
WHAT DOES GCSF DO?
Balancing the desire to yield the greatest possible
impact with the seemingly endless need in the region,
GCSF has developed an "Adopt-a-Village" approach
to its programs, focusing its work in Viet Nam, Myanmar
(formerly Burma), Cambodia and Thailand. The core of
the "Adopt-a-Village" grass roots approach
to community development is working with villages to
address their needs as fundamental as food, clean water,
shelter and clothing as well as education, public health
and sanitation, vocational training, and income generation
projects. Integrating these and other programs GCSF
works toward reducing poverty and creating an environment
of self-reliance.
GCSF'S MOST CRITICAL NEEDS

YOU
CAN HELP We
have supporters who participate in our foundation
by making financial contributions, as well as
supporters who participate personally through
active voluntour efforts, both in the United States
and at our Adopt-a-Village sites. You can help
GCSF succeed by:
- FINANCING
a future "Adopt-a-Village" Program in need of
funding
- FINANCING
one or more single projects within a Village
Program
- IDENTIFYING
potential "Adopt-a-Village" prospects for GCSF's
consideration
- ENGAGING
in participatory philanthropy. A hallmark of
our foundation is that we encourage our voluntours
to visit our "Adopt-a-Village" communities,
to work alongside one another towards the completion
of a common goal.
