GCSF to Aid Burma’s Youngest Cyclone Victims

Dear Friends!

Global Community Service Foundation (GCSF) is seeking your support to help raise money that will benefit some of the youngest and most unfortunate victims of Tropical Cyclone Nargis: orphans who live at the Joshua Orphanage in Dala, Burma as well as many others in surrounding communities.

The cyclone, which struck Burma May 3 with winds up to 135 mph and storm surges of up to 13 feet, devastated much of the Irrawady Delta area of this Southeast Asian country. More than 100,000 Burmese people are feared dead and a million are homeless.

For nearly a decade, GCSF has been developing Adopt-A-Village programs in Burma and had plans to renovate the Joshua Orphanage.

GCSF has learned from its in-country staff that the host family and the orphans rode out the storm on bamboo supports in a room at the orphanage. However, the catastrophic cyclone destroyed the orphanage leaving the children and the host family without food and safe water.

GCSF is now raising funds to rebuild and expand the orphanage because the number of orphans likely has grown since the cyclone. We also will provide the children safe water and food and help victims in the surrounding community.

We have created a short video about the orphanage, the storm’s impact and how you can contribute to this critical humanitarian mission. Click here to view this video.

Burma is one of several countries in Southeast Asia that GCSF has been working in to improve the quality of life and fight poverty by helping to build housing, refurbish educational facilities, increase access to safe water supplies and improve rural health care. GCSF has a full staff on the ground in Burma with expertise in implementing and monitoring humanitarian projects.

GCSF is urging you to support this important humanitarian project. With your generous contribution and GCSF’s determination combined with its organization and contacts in Burma a new Joshua Orphanage will be built and many victims in the surrounding areas will receive aid.

Thank you for your continued support of Global Community Service Foundation and its Adopt-A-Village programs in Burma and throughout Southeast Asia. We will keep you apprised of the situation in Burma as developments occur.

Sincerely,

Global Community Service Foundation Board of Directors

P.S. Help the children of the Joshua Orphanage now. Donate today so work on rebuilding the orphanage can start as soon as possible. Thank you!
